- What type of Company is 3fifteen?
3fifteen is a Microsoft application development business. We build, deploy and maintain enterprise-level customised applications for our customers using Microsoft technology. We are a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner. 3fifteen has offices in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
- What does the internship entail and how long is it?
The internship runs for a fixed term period of 12 months. The internship program runs annually and generally commences in January each year. The program consists of a combination of formal and on-the-job training. 3fifteen partners with Microsoft and the Interns are required to obtain certain Microsoft qualifications. Each Intern is assigned a mentor. Quarterly performance reviews are conducted and the Interns receive ongoing feedback regarding their performance. The goal of the internship is to create permanent employment opportunities within our organization. Offers of permanent employment will be performance based. Should the internship result in an offer of permanent employment we would require a minimum commitment of 12 months thereafter.
- What are the requirements in order to qualify for the program?
You need to have completed an IT related degree or diploma from a recognized South African Institute, you must be a South African citizen under the age of 35 and currently unemployed.
- Does the internship pay a salary and are there benefits?
Yes you will earn a salary while completing the internship, the details of which will be discussed with you during the recruitment process. You may also be eligible for quarterly increases dependent upon performance. During the period of the internship you will not be required to participate in the Company benefit schemes. If the internship should result in permanent employment then the employee would participate in the company benefit schemes. For permanent employees 3fifteen also has a quarterly incentive scheme which is performance based.
- Does the Company offer training?
An integral part of 3fifteen’s culture is a major focus on growth and learning. 3fifteen provides training in a variety of ways for their employees. 3fifteen offers training through a combination of formal and informal means and covers a range including specialist technical training, Microsoft certifications and events, Tech-Ed, soft skills training and in-house training. The internship has a specific training program which will be followed.
- What are the working hours?
Working hours are between 8am to 5pm with one hour for lunch. We require a minimum of a 40 hour working week. 3fifteen does provide flexibility with regard to working hours; this can be arranged with your Line Manager.
- Is there a particular dress code?
The dress code is casual whilst being neat , tidy and professional. You are not required to dress in corporate clothing.
- Is there room for growth within the organisation?
Definitely, the goal of the internship is to create permanent employment. Once employed permanently there is a clear growth path from junior to architect level in development. The delivery / development division is also broken up into teams which each focus on a particular business area incorporating specific technologies. We encourage our staff members to grow and learn across all areas thus enabling them to gain broader competencies and skills.
- What is the Company culture and atmosphere?
3fifteen is a company that is dynamic, enthusiastic and vibrant. We provide a comfortable work environment with a positive atmosphere. The focus is on working SMART and being productive during working hours but maintaining work-life balance. The company structure is relatively flat and there is an open door policy. We encourage teamwork and collaboration. 3fifteen has a competency based culture where we reward and recognize staff for their contributions and the value they add to the organization. We encourage our staff to give their input and to ask questions. We have a number of means of gathering feedback from our staff in order to implement positive changes within the organization.
- Do I get any leave during the internship?
You will be entitled to leave during the internship. You will be eligible for 18 working days of annual leave during the 12 month fixed term period. This must be taken at a time that is convenient to yourself as well as the company. Study leave will be provided for the purpose of completing training and exams as specified as part of the internship program. All other leave will be provided in accordance with labour regulations.
- Are the Interns able to participate in company functions?
Most certainly, as a 3fifteen intern you are able to attend and participate in all company functions.
- Does 3fifteen strive to be an Employer of Choice?
3fifteen entered the Deloitte Best Company to Work For Survey in 2008, 2009 and again in 2010. The purpose of the survey is to measure the overall employment experience and perceptions of the employees within 3fifteen and to find out what motivates them in the work environment as well as where changes can be made to enhance their employment experience.
The survey ranks companies according to size and also compares them with industry peers. We consistently achieved a Top 10 ranking in the Small Company Category (50 - 300 employees) in the IT Industry in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
